farewell, group!

hey friends - just figured I'd make one final post in this community to say thank you to everyone for a fun ride, our 2015 project to find new ways to make friends on livejournal has come to a close! As promised I am keeping it to 2015.

If you're still looking for friends, I would recommend:

Ten Ways To Make Livejournal New Again, my post about everything I learned in my 2015 resolution to refresh my friends list.

add_me, add me spinoff communities, and other friending communities.

thefridayfive, a question community that's better for those of us who like updating our own journals.

And in general, maintain the attitude that this community was all about, the philosophy that...

1) A website doesn't have to be THE newest, hottest, talked about platform to be enjoyable.

2) In fact sometimes it's better if it's NOT the newest hottest thing - the people you find at "the next facebook!" are probably just there because it's a trend, not because they've invested in it, and certainly not because they've got anything in common with you.

3) If you're going to invest time and energy in making friends, why not pick a community you already know and love?

4) On any website, friends you know and love will come and go. So if you like the platform, keep friending people, forever, forever! It'll pay off and you'll keep loving it.

ciao,

spacefem

Who are you?
My name's Devin. I'm 21 years old, from PA. I'm transgender. I identify as male. I'm legally blind from retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) as a result of being born 3 months early.
What do you like about livejournal?
I've been on livejournal since April 2008 and I have lots of memories spending time on livejournal and meeting new friends in the process. I love how you can express yourself on livejournal.
Is your journal public, friends only, or a little of both?
My journal is mainly friends only.
How often do you update your livejournal?
It varies. Sometimes I'll update a couple times a day. Sometimes daily. Usually a couple times a week.
How often do you check your friends feed?
Almost every day. Or every time I update.
What are some good things that happened to you in the past 12 months?
Honestly, nothing really comes to mind. I guess getting back into music, going to shows, playing bass guitar, and skateboarding.
What do you think will happen to you in 2015?
I'm not sure. Hopefully I'll get a part time retail job. I applied to two different places.
What do you like to write about?
Posts about my days or shows I went to. Sometimes, I'll post open honest entries about my struggles with bipolar disorder type 2, self harm, and anorexia.
Any quirky obsessions or extremist views you want to warn people about?
not really. But I'm obessed with music, bands, going to shows, art, photography, coffee, hoodies, band merch, playing bass guitar, watching videos on youtube, and skating.

Who are you? I be a 40 year old registered nurse in the Pacific Northwest named Aubrey. I sign everything around the office as Aubs, RN. I'm a new nurse out in the world, and a retired rock star, if you will.

What do you like about livejournal? I've been a part of LJ since Feb 2001 and during this time have met some really freaking phenomenal people who have become important parts of my life. I have had my life literally change for the better because of the wonderful beings I found here. Although the majority of them have left for things like Faceypages and Insti-grams, I still hope to create new and lasting friendships again. I also like that LJ allows me to explore my thoughts and feelings on things and isn't as... exposed... as FB or other places - e.g. my coworkers and extended family don't live here.

Is your journal public, friends only, or a little of both? Once upon a time, I was 100% public. Alas, spam bots became more frequent and I grew up a bit, I guess (oh, my 2001 self!), and don't feel that my every thought and biological function needs to be known by the entire world... just those here :)

How often do you update your livejournal? The longest I spent away from LJ was during my jaunt through nursing school which, in retrospect, I wish I would have been so much more active, as it was a really tremendous time in my life. I may disappear for a day or two as I work 13-17 hour shifts for two days in a row, but it's a good place to vent... especially since I work overnights and there isn't really much to do on my days off.

How often do you check your friends feed? All days off. My work "week", I literally come home from work, shower, face plant on my pillow, and get up and repeat.

What are some good things that happened to you in the past 12 months? I graduated from nursing school June 2014, passed my state exam in July 2014, and started on my Bachelor's of Science in Nursing in August 2014. I powered through the majority of that and landed my first job June 2015 at a rehab facility. Basically, it's a short term hop when patients are too well to be in the hospital but not well enough to be released to home or to a long term care facility.

What do you think will happen to you in 2015? I think I will end up doing some exploring for what type of nurse I want to be. I may explore some other avenues, such as wound care or administration type things. Overall, I think it's going to be a time where I just go through a New Nurse Hazing Period. They say that nurses feel completely inadequate and horrible for their first year, so here we go!

What do you like to write about? A lot of my entries lately have been about work work work. I have spent the last 2.5 months going from an unemployed college student to an extremely physically active job, so it was pretty all-encompassing, since days off would just be recuperating before going back to do it again. Now that I'm getting physically (and somewhat mentally) used to it, my entries are branching out a bit then. For the most part, it's sort of limited to what I encounter being up while the world sleeps, which... either involves going to the gym and watching a crap ton of Netflix, with a smattering of various MMOs.

Quirky obsessions or extremist views? I'm pretty laid back when it comes to my views, as long as you're respectful. Occasionally, I will hit a bump where I'm SUPER OBSESSED with one random nerdy thing for like a month, then I'll leave it alone. I also have a crappy attention span so I never obsess for long. Past obsessions include Marvel Cinematic Universe, Final Fantasy, Doctor Who, Invader Zim, various obscure bands, and a boy crush. If you find yourself annoyed by a topic I won't let drop, please be patient, I'll drop it eventually!

Other stuff? The titles for my entries come from whatever I have streaming on my 2nd monitor at time of posting. I tend to discover things waaaay after they're gone (right now, I'm watching 30 Rock and Fringe for the first time), and for some reason, cooking competition shows are the thing my brain likes to have going on in the background when I'm preparing to get ready for bed.

Aiight, it's after 10 am, which means I'm up past my bed time! See you on the flip side!

Who are you? I'm Nia! It's not my real name, but a name I go by. I work full-time at a department store. I don't really like my job, but job = money, money = I can pay my bills. I haven't figured out exactly what I want to do in the future, but it's between web design and interior design. I just turned 26, but I don't act it unless I need to be serious. Life is too short to be serious too much. I'm becoming more optimistic despite having pretty bad problems with depression and anxiety for years. I still have problems with it, yes, but I no longer let it define me, nor do I let it rule me or my future

What do you like about livejournal?
Making friends who I can keep a real friendship with, writing about whatever is on my mind, hobby-wise or life-wise and the icon/writing comms to participate in.

Is your journal public, friends only, or a little of both?
Friends only, there are very few public posts where I post about friending memes I run. That's about it. I always welcome new friends into my locked journal though.

How often do you update your livejournal?
Twice or more a week, depending on what I feel like talking about.

How often do you check your friends feed?
More than once a day, unless I'm busy. If I'm busy, it's once a day.

What are some good things that happened to you in the past 12 months?
> We found a decent rental to live in, that was recently remodeled. It looks fabulous.
> In wake of recent events, I'm now closer to my Lord, Jesus (I am religious, I will talk about it below)
> I lived another day! (It's those little things you have to appreciate!)

What do you think will happen to you in 2015?
I'm not sure! I'd hope to find a decent job where I'm not so stressed out all the time. I want to lead a more active lifestyle.

What do you like to write about?
Anything and everything. I write about my life, my fandoms, interests, gaming, tv shows, graphics/jewelry I make and any article/video I find interesting. Oh and I draw and write too!

Any quirky obsessions or extremist views you want to warn people about?
As for quirky obsessions, I loooooove crime shows (my favorites are NCIS - I love LA too -, Law and Order: SVU, Psych and CSI/CSI: New York), but I also love the medieval genre too (SKYRIMMMM, Elder Scrolls Online, and the Dragon Age series) and the sci-fi, as well (All Star Trek series, the Mass Effect series and Doctor Who)

Now as for "extremist views", I will be completely honest...I am a bit extreme. I'm Pro-life. I'm a conservative feminist; I don't believe in sexually objectifying women (or men and children). I'm LGBT friendly. I believe this phobia and hate against them needs to stop. They are people just like me and you. Abuse, bullying or discrimination is a no-no for me too. It's disgusting and should not happen. And lastly, I am a Christian, but I definitely respect other religions and I'm not the type to preach to you or shove it down your throat.

But really, Skyrim should be a quirky obsession all of it's own. I've put more than 3,000 hours on it between my PC and Xbox 360. Back when I was having some pretty bad problems with depression, it was an outlet. I played it to escape the sad feelings and negativity that my mind produced so it's really dear to me.

Anything else we should know?
Naaahh, I think I covered it all lol.

[Hello from England!]
Loki ♡
crazybellatrix
Who are you?
Hola! I am Loki, 24 years, Aries, and currently living in London, England. I grew up in Russia, The Netherlands, and The Philippines. I enjoy travelling the world, and hope to do a lot of it during my life.
I am adopted, and would never change being given this chance in life.
I have many hobbies and interests. I have no idea on what to do with my life right now, but I am trying to enjoy every moment that I have. I live with mental illness, and although that can be a bummer, it is part of who I am. It has taught me a lot. I'm an example of someone that you should never judge based on my age.
All seriousness aside, I enjoy film, symphonic metal, Egyptology, Norse Mythology, photography, abnormal psychology, and always learning something new. I enjoy going to Starbucks, and drinking pints in historical pubs with my friends.
I'd like to think that I'm friendly and I believe in honesty. I'm not comfortable lying to someone's face just to make them feel good. I'm outgoing, creative, talkative, and prefer to look on the bright side of life than hate everything and everyone in it. I don't believe in hate or keeping grudges. I forgive, but if someone has wronged me too many times, I will simply walk away. I don't enjoy being caught up in any drama, and would rather keep peace with everyone than go through stress.
The people in my life mean a lot to me. I love being social, but I do enjoy my "alone time", too. I am a complete dork and enjoy being silly at times. My sense of humor is weird, and my crazy friends don't help. Lol. I choose to do what I want and dress how I want instead of pretending to be someone that I'm not.
Wow. . . This was a lot longer than I was expecting. . -moves onto the next question-

What do you like about livejournal?
I like making new friends, and the fact that LJ allows people to show their individuality. This is a space to post what you want, and gives us a chance to get to know people from all over the world. I like the idea of communities, too.
Though, please, LiveJournal: Fix your entry editor. [Laughs]

Is your journal public, friends only, or a little of both?
My journal is entirely friends only, except for one public "friends only" entry.

How often do you update your livejournal?
I update when I get the chance or when I have something interesting to say. I can get very busy, and might not be able to update for a few days, but I do try my best. { And I let everyone know if I can't update/read for whatever reason. }

How often do you check your friends feed?
Whenever I am on. I can be slow, but I try my best to keep up-to-date.

What are some good things that happened to you in the past 12 months?
I have travelled a lot. I went to Turkey, Norway, Spain, Czech Republic, France, and recently just got back from Morocco. Of course I have had several visits to Ireland, too, as I've family that live there. I've been to two family weddings. I had a job for 8 months during the last 12 months, but left because it turned out rubbish. It started off a lot of fun and I earned enough money for travels, etc.. but just another one of those things in life that didn't work out, ha.

What do you think will happen to you in 2015?
It's half-way through the year, yo. I am hoping that I'll get another, decent, steady job, and get to travel a little more before the year ends. Also, I'm going to another wedding at the end of this month.

What do you like to write about?
I like to write about what's happening in my life, and about my travels. Whatever comes to mind, I'll write about it. Sometimes, I'll get involved with memes { especially if I'm tagged } and I like to post pictures. My entries 99.9% of the time include GIFs. I like to include some spark { and me } in my posts.

Any quirky obsessions or extremist views you want to warn people about?
I am gender fluid, and am bisexual. I support gay rights. I believe in being true to yourself.
I am a feminist. I am against objectifying women. I believe in equal rights.
I am not religious. I accept religions, but as soon as they are being shoved down my throat, I will not tolerate this.
I support animal rights.
I am highly against child abuse, pedophilia, necrophilia, beastiality.
Rape and mental illness needs to be taken more seriously, and victims should be given support- and their abusers put to justice.
I am highly against domestic violence. I find it repulsive. I am against men that are victims not being taken seriously, too.
Hitting women is vile, but if a woman is beating the shit out of a man, he has every right to defend himself and NOT put up with any abuse.
I believe in peace and making this world a better place.
I have many views and opinions. I am happy to discuss them, but I refuse to bash or be bashed for my views.
I don't have to agree with opposing views, but I respect them, and won't tolerate hate.

Who are you?
Hi, I'm Henry. I'm a 33 year old, married scientist from New Jersey. I'm interested in the standard things like gaming (video, card, and board), science fiction, fantasy, sports, movies, music, and books. In addition to science, I was somewhat formally trained in political science (college minor) and philosophy (could have easily been another minor). People at work identify me with books, mainly because I'd rather read than make small talk at lunch. And even though I've worked here for ten years, I doubt my coworkers know me that well. At my wedding, the recurring themes from speeches were that I was a "good person" and a "total dork". But those descriptors were given by my friends and family, so take that as you will.

What do you like about livejournal?
I like that your entries are not heavily limited. That refers to both length of entries and formatting. I also like the idea of communities, although its hard to find the right ones.

Is your journal public, friends only, or a little of both?
Pretty much totally public. I may have a friends only post once in a decade, if even that.

How often do you update your livejournal?
It's pretty sporadic but based on my previous several months, its about four or five times a month.

How often do you check your friends feed?
Several times a day on most weekdays. It increases or decreases by the amount of work I have.

What are some good things that happened to you in the past 12 months?
Mainly travel events since the wife and I take pretty decent vacations. And life in general since I'm pretty happy with my general life situation.

What do you think will happen to you in 2015?
June-July: Kitchen remodeling
October: NY Comic Con (so costume preparation for the summer)
November: Friend's wedding in Vegas + potential road trip to explore America
December: Holidays and break from work

What do you like to write about?
The vast majority of my entries are about books, movies, or travel. After I finish a book, I'll typically write an entry. After a see a movie of note, I may write an entry. Typically, after a vacation, I'll make a series of posts (with pictures!) about the vacation.

Additionally, I'll randomly make posts about news stories of interest, life in general, or television. Ocassionally, I'll also post surveys (both one shot or 30 day ones) if I find good ones.

Any quirky obsessions or extremist views you want to warn people about?
I'm pretty strong in many of my views. Its okay if you don't agree with me, but I like to discuss them and debate. I identify as a Republican even though I'm quite socially liberal. Its mainly because I'm fiscally conservative and a Realist (political term). But I also am a feminist (although I often get annoyed by crazy feminists) and an atheist (I also get annoyed at crazy Atheists).

anything else we should know?
If we have differing views, I'll probably challenge your view. But its not a personal attack, I just like to discuss and debate given the opportunity. And I'll probably come off as harsh.

But overall, I'm a friendly guy =)

Who are you?
I'm a queer, genderfree, trans, poly (relationship anarchist), fat-&-proud, honest, open, social justice worker, tree-hugger (literally & figuratively), eclectic pagan Quaker, and art catalyst, with ADD-PI. I'm white, usually read as cisgender, college-educated, and non-disabled, and I'm open to people checking me on my privilege. I believe in justice, spirit, magic, critical analysis, mindful touch, asking, bold emotion, creating/living art, colors, nudity, giving, self-love, & Georgia.

What do you like about livejournal?
meaningful sharing that can happen whenever I have the time and energy? that is the best. All of my closest and best relationships have come from LJ in one way or another.

Is your journal public, friends only, or a little of both?
almost all public - I occasionally lock things that are about work or friends who want privacy.

How often do you update your livejournal?
it varies -- I aim for daily and lately I end up with about 3 times a week.

How often do you check your friends feed?
it varies -- I aim for daily but usually end up going on a five-hour readathon once a week (I read very fast).

What are some good things that happened to you in the past 12 months?
building my friendships to the best levels I have ever experienced.
finally getting medicated for ADD.
doing an art show! selling some of my fractal art!

What do you think will happen to you in 2015?
I'll graduate, at long last.

What do you like to write about?
happenings with emotional significance and why they matter, social justice, dreams, relationships, skill-sharing, analysing patterns in myself or society or relationships, polls, my spirituality and how I invest in it, things I've recently learned, my core values and progress toward goals based on them.

Any quirky obsessions or extremist views you want to warn people about?
Well, the number one thing that makes me unfriend people is use of slurs. So if you're okay with saying that someone was b*tching about their st*pid day with all its cr*zy experiences, we're not likely to get along. If you don't get why that is a problem, here's where I explain: slurs are still very harmful when they are aimed at a situation/action/thing instead of a person / TW: slurs and we can't be friends if you use slurs because it damages me & breaks my trust in you / TW: slurs and slurs are both harmful and not expressive: say what you actually mean instead / TW: slurs.

What do you like about livejournal?
I like meeting new people and exchanging thoughts and ideas. I've also never been able to keep a journal for more than a week, but I have a good feeling about this place.

Is your journal public, friends only, or a little of both?
It's totally public! I think.

How often do you update your livejournal?
So far, every day. I'd like to keep it that way.

How often do you check your friends feed?
Every day! I wanna know what you guys are up to.

Good things? My cousin Ashley moved in with me. And we like her, so that's good. Also I adopted a kitten and named him Noodle, he is my little fluff, my tiny son.

What do you think will happen to you in 2015?
Hopefully I'd like to get a better handle on my mental and physical health so that I can get my undergrad. I'm supposed to be getting my BSc in biomedical biology this year, but I fucked up and I'm really only half way there. I'd like to get back to school in September.

My life, general ramblings, weird dreams, boys, my struggles with depression, anxiety, addiction, abuse, and getting my ass off the couch.

Any quirky obsessions or extremist views you want to warn people about?
I won't put any trigger warnings on my journal, so be careful. If I post in a community I will.

Ten ways to make livejournal seem new again

This was originally posted on my journal but I thought you all might appreciate it, so here it is as a cross post :)

In 2015 I noticed my friends list getting a little slow, and realized that I had no one to blame but myself. I should be building my network like I do on other sites, especially new ones I join, right? So I asked myself what I could do and learned all kinds of tricks and sure enough, livejournal feels like a very busy place for me now! I would love to hear your tips for friends list building and connecting too... here are ten from me:

Friend Questing 2015
calico_pye

Who are you?
Mature female student, finishing a FdA English Studies degree, then finishing the full BA English in May 2016.  Lives near St Ives in Cornwall, married with two grown up sons. Half-assed writer and wanton plagiarist <---just kidding re the plagiarist bit.

What do you like about livejournal?
I have been here for ten years.  I have thought of leaving a couple of times, especially when I see shiny new-kids-on-the-block like Tumblr and Wordpress.  Still think of this as my home, so I have stayed.

Is your journal public, friends only, or a little of both?
It is a mixture of the two AND private too.

How often do you update your livejournal?
At least once a day, sometimes two-three times a day.  If I haven't posted, then call the emergency services and search all warehouses and ditches.

How often do you check your friends feed?
At least once a day.  To make sure you are still breathing.

What are some good things that happened to you in the past 12 months?
Fond some ace places online for royalty free music, many animation sites to help with scriptwriting and have had good marks for year one of degree course.  Yee haw - life in the old bird yet.

What do you think will happen to you in 2015?
I will be shuttling up and down to Plymouth University and will be complaining about it All.The.Time.

What do you like to write about?
Absolutely anything - these days it has been a bit more academic, so you may want to fast forward through that a bit. I get lost amongst the weird and wonderful pages of Sci Fi/ Fantasy genre and get lost in the eighties/nineties musical underground, but I do like articles on art, astronomy and anything a bit left-field, especially satirical humour.

Any quirky obsessions or extremist views you want to warn people about?
No - I am mostly harmless.

Who are you?
A 42-year-old married bloke living in Cornwall (that's the most southwesterly bit of the UK), but originally from North Wales. I live with my wife, two dogs and three cats, no children. I run two businesses - a web development / online marketing agency with my wife and an online shop selling classic role-playing games called The Shop on the Borderlands. Before that I was a senior manager in a Big 4 accountancy firm. I also teach accounting to BA and MBA students at university. I studied Philosophy, Politics & Economics (PPE) at Magdalen College, Oxford. I help to run a competition in Plymouth called "You're Hired!", which is essentially a version of the TV show 'The Apprentice' for 17-year-olds.

What do you like about livejournal?
I like that it allows for and encourages discussion, and that for the most part people are polite and intelligent. I do wish it was more popular though and that the range of subjects discussed was a little wider. That last point may be an aspect of my friends list, hence this post.

Is your journal public, friends only, or a little of both?
It's mostly public. The exceptions tend to be if I'm posting about real people who aren't on LJ.

How often do you update your livejournal?
I post semi-regular links posts (a page of links to various articles I found scattered throughout the internet that I think at least some of my readers might also find interesting. Those tend to be about once a fortnight. Looking at my posts this year shows that I've made thirteen in 2015, which is somewhat less than usual because I'm quite busy in the evenings at the moment with other things.

How often do you check your friends feed?
Several times a day. And I comment quite frequently.

What are some good things that happened to you in the past 12 months?
Starting The Shop on the Borderlands, which has been way more successful than I thought it would be. I'm still enjoying the whole being-my-own-boss and working-from-home thing too.

What do you think will happen to you in 2015?
Hopefully more of the same, but with a bit more money.

What do you like to write about? (I'm going to extend this question to "What would you like to write about, but don't tend to because your current friends list doesn't contain many people that would be interested?")
Sport, especially the NFL (the Oakland Raiders, and I'm a draft enthusiast), real football (Manchester United, football tactics), cycling (specifically road race cycling). I'd like to write more about sport, but my current friends list doesn't seem to contain many sports enthusiasts. Note that all of these interests are armchair-based, rather than participatory.

Geeky stuff. Especially science fiction and fantasy literature - I've done little book reviews in the past and will get back to doing that at some point. I have  a strange aversion to the word 'fandom', but the ones I'm most into would be Game of Thrones, Tolkien, Doctor Who, Blake's 7 and Star Wars. Roleplaying games, mostly D&D and Traveller.

I'd like to discuss sitcoms more. I like a lot of sitcoms, but that doesn't seem to be that common in my friends list.

You're Hired! (See above.)

Fast cars. In particular, my own fast car, an ageing 911.

I once had quite a good (he says modestly...) series of articles about economics aimed at educating people on this subject. I want to return to this at some point. Most people would say that economics is important, yet very few people have studied the subject at school at university. And it does bug me when people spout off an opinion that they are convinced is right when they clearly know next to nothing about the subject. People who studied say biochemistry or medieval French poetry at university probably don't have this problem. This is a particularly good trio of posts (read the first before going on to the second and third).

I'm also about a quarter of the way through posting (usually with YouTube videos) 100 of my favourite songs.

Any quirky obsessions or extremist views you want to warn people about?
It's not that unusual, but I do play an awful lot of the PC game Football Manager. I occasionally post about this, but mostly for my own records.

Politically, I'm very much in favour of letting markets do their thing, small government, freedom of speech, freedom of the individual. I get annoyed when people claim to be "liberals" but actually favour state intervention in the economy, big government, high taxes and political correctness, which seems to be what "liberal" means in certain circles. I really have very little time for political correctness or for apologists for socialism and marxism. If you're the sort of person who believes what they read in The Guardian, we're probably not going to get along and I probably won't add you back. If you're the sort of person who blames the economic crisis since 2008 on "the Jews", "the bankers" or "the Jewish bankers" rather than the failure of western governments to control public spending before and since, then we're probably not going to get along and I probably won't add you back. I don't actively ban many people from my journal, but when I have done in the past it's mostly been for being offensively left-wing.

I expect people who comment on my journal to at least broadly comply with my '55 Rules for Debate on the Internet'.

I'm an environmentalist, but a sceptical one, closest in thinking to writers like Bjorn Lomborg, Matt Ridley and Tim Worstall. In fact, scepticism sums up my approach to many subjects - for example, I'm an atheist.

These aren't random, they're carefully chosen! I've also bent completely ignored the rule about using entries from the last three months to make my journal look more interesting. How about...

Who are you?
I'm Katie. I'm 32 years old. Female. Married. My husband and I are currently TTC. I have two dogs and a snake. I live in Ohio.

Why are you still on live journal, don't you know it's dead?
I like the interaction and getting to know about my friends and their lives. There's a lot more intimacy here than there is on other social media sites. I really like getting to know about my friends day to day lives. And I like the feedback and advice I get from friends that get to know me too.

Is your journal public, friends only, or a little of both?
Friends only

How often do you update your live journal?
I try to update every other day at the least.

How often do you check your friends feed?
Daily

What are some good things that happened to you in the past 12 months?
I got married in October. I went on an awesome honeymoon to the Dominican Republic in December. I got invited to join 4 honor society's. I got approved for graduation. I got selected to do my Role Transition in a very prestigious NICU.

What do you think will happen to you in 2015?
I'll hopefully become a mother or at least get pregnant. I'll graduate with my BSN. I'll apply to grad school. I'll hopefully go on a couple of rad trips. I will hopefully be offered my dream job in the NICU.

What do you like to write about?
I am really social and have a lot of friends, so I post a lot about that. I am also really getting in to TTC so there will be a lot about that. I write about nursing school. Being married. My day to day life. I post lots of photos even though I'm not great at taking photos. My snake. My dogs. Working on our fixer upper house. Social justice issues. Being a coach in the Special Olympics. My sleeve/back piece progress. My thoughts, feelings, and things about my day working in the NICU (respecting HIPPA of course). I read alot so I occasionally post about books. I watch some TV shows so sometimes I'll mention that. My husband and I are big outdoors people so I post a lot about camping, hiking, kayaking, backpacking, etc.

Any quirky obsessions or extremist views you want to warn people about?
I don't think I have any extreme views. I am passionate about social justice issues. So, if you are anti any of that stuff we wouldn't be a good fit. I'm atheist but I am pretty live and let live unless you like to use religion to deny rights to other people. Oh and vaccines. I am super pro public health. Probably the only thing I am judgmental about are anti-vaxers and people who use physical discipline. If you are into either of those things I really don't want to know you. Other than that I'm really tolerant and believe in live and let live.

anything else we should know? What I am not looking for:
People that only post memes or twitter feeds. Some are fine. Just not if it's the only thing you post. People that post mostly about various disorders and illnesses. I apologize if that makes me seem insensitive, but I just don't think we would have much in common. I don't mind people that post about it but not if your whole journal revolves around it. I want to get to know you and your day to day life, not your disorders. People who are in very different stages of life. People that are rabidly childfree. I don't mind if you don't want kids but if you hate kids we won't be a good match. Anyone that is very conservative. People that are very religious.

Who are you? I'm Peta. 30/F/Melbourne, Australia. I'm studying my Bachelor of Creative Arts Industries. My major's are creative writing and visual arts. Currently I'm living by myself with my cat. Hopefully not by myself for too long because who can really afford that. I like punk rock, pop, binge watching tv shows and playing video games. I'm like a really old teenager.

What do you like about livejournal? I like the social aspect of it. I was quite a heavy user when I was younger, I've been here since 2001, I made a lot of really good friends. I've been inactive for the past 5 years but I'm back now and I have nothing to read. I like getting to know people from reading about their lives and interests.

Is your journal public, friends only, or a little of both? It's friends only.

How often do you update your livejournal? Maybe twice a week. I'm trying to update it more often.

How often do you check your friends feed? Usually when I update. There isn't usually much to read, so thats where you come in! I'd like to be able to check it more often again.

What are some good things that happened to you in the past 12 months? I started studying again and I've been really enjoying my wonderful friends. its nice to realise you've got a lot of great people in your corner.

What do you think will happen to you in 2015? Its my goal to get something published, so hopefully that. I'm also going to be the maid of honour at my sister's wedding in June. I think I'll just continue to study and create things.

What do you like to write about? My life mostly. As I write more stories I'd like to share them with livejournal. But at this stage I'm just writing about me.

Any quirky obsessions or extremist views you want to warn people about? Sometimes my entries can be a bit disjointed. I try to put them into some kind of order, that makes more sense to read but that doesn't always happen. Its a bit how i think really. But i think thats it.

Link to a couple random entries from the last 3 months that people might check out first: sorry its all friends only.

anything else we should know? Not that I can think of?  Is there anything else you want to know? If you find you don't like me and what I have to say you can unfriend me. I don't mind.

Who are you?
I'm 30 years old and live in the suburbs in Ohio. I lived in NY for most of my life but moved here almost 5 years ago to live with my boyfriend (who I met here on Livejournal). I'm still in a stage where I'm trying to figure my life out - career wise I suppose. I've dealt with anxiety and depression issues but I try to not let it consume me. I'm a lover of film, music, art, nature, animals, games, and taking photos.

What do you like about livejournal?
I love reading about the lives of others and how friendly and supportive a lot of people here seem to be. I become invested in your stories.

Is your journal public, friends only, or a little of both?
Friends only.

How often do you update your livejournal?
I've been trying to update daily but I might go a couple days without an update.

How often do you check your friends feed?
Daily. I may check my feed a little too obsessively.

What are some good things that happened to you in the past 12 months?
I saw my family and friends from NY for the first time in a couple years. I went on a beach vacation. My anxiety improved a little. I made a couple new strong friendships.

What do you think will happen to you in 2015?
I'm trying to find a better job. I'm going to be a bridesmaid in a wedding. Might go on a couple trips. Otherwise, who knows! Trying to work on bettering myself - socially, health-wise, etc.

What do you like to write about?
I usually just go with the flow and share my stream of thoughts. Really random things sometimes. I like to share things I enjoy, daily happenings, stuff that is bothering me. Introspection. Memories. A mix of both positive and negative feelings. I like to keep it real.

Any quirky obsessions or extremist views you want to warn people about?
Hmmm. There's nothing I plan to post about obsessively. I might share my thoughts on movies frequently.

Link to a couple random entries from the last 3 months that people might check out first:
My journal is friend's only. I won't be offended if you add and then decide I'm not your cup of tea.

Anything else we should know?
I'm sugar and spice. Occasionally crude. Open. Have my dull moments. A mix of cynical and positive. Hyper.

Who are you?

A full-time geek, addicted to tv shows. A digital artist in my spare time.

What do you like about livejournal?

It's become my home over the last 10 years and I just can't leave it behind.

Is your journal public, friends only, or a little of both?

Both. My RL posts are f-locked, and all fannish posts are public.

How often do you update your livejournal?

Ranges from twice a week to once a month. Basically, not too often.

How often do you check your friends feed?

Every weekend. I make it a point to never miss any of my friends' posts (as long as the ol' flist by date feature still works, this is perfectly feasible).

But I don't have the time to keep up with anyone who posts every day (or more).

What do you like to write about?

I love to discuss the shows I'm watching with my friends. The shows I currently post reviews of are Elementary and Grimm. I often post recs for shows I've newly discovered (those aren't necessarily new shows).

I'm currently looking for fellow fans of The Librarians.

I post art and icons I've made.

My personal posts are really just short summaries of what happened in my life in the last month.

Any quirky obsessions or extremist views you want to warn people about?

I post adult fic recs. I don't consider that weird on lj, though. ;)

I'm pretty relaxed and like my lj to be a safe corner of fandom, not a place for drama.

I hate tumblr (but have one anyway).

I haven't posted here since launching this community a while back, so first I wanted to say WOW, this turned out way better than I thought it would! We have almost 100 members, I thought we'd have, like six.

I'd like to try something on Fridays... I'll post up a poll with 3-5 random interests, you check the boxes to describe you, since we can all see who's participating and who checks what it might inspire more friend-ing?

Leave suggestions for next week's in the comments! or any other suggestions for some kind of weekly thing we can do to find each other and branch out?
